**About the Department**:
The **Data Management Office and Big Data Analytics** function answers the demand for quality and credible data across the Group.

**Data Management Office**
We govern the use of data across the Group and provide guidance for data management and usage. This optimises the value of data to enable smarter, faster and more accurate decision-making as well as improve operational efficiency. Above all, we ensure adherence to all data governance standards as determined by regulators.

**Big Data Analytics**
We are a centralised analytics function that supports Group-wide business units and their analytical needs. We aim to establish ourselves as an analytics centre of excellence and drive analytics adoption and the utilisation of new big data technology across the Group. Our key areas of service range from business intelligence, strategic analytics to data science.

**Responsibilities**:
The role is a key member of the Enterprise Data Governance Team which supports the Head of Enterprise Data Governance and Quality in defining and operationalising the long-term vision, strategy and objectives for data governance across the Group that are in line with the Bank's business strategy and objectives. Your main responsibilities are to:

- Actively support the UOB Group-wide Data Governance strategy and the adoption of the data governance framework and policy, incorporating best practices and industry standards across different jurisdictions where the Bank operates.
- Actively contribute to the development and continuous evolution of the data governance processes and best practices in line with the Bank’s strategies and objectives, along with evolving industry practices
- Participate in Bank-wide initiatives to promote data protection and confidentiality best practices and responsible sharing of data across business functions, between subsidiaries and entities as well as with external parties.
- Lead in Bank-wide Key Risk and Control Self-Assessment initiatives to embed data governance practices into existing enterprise-wide policies and processes.
- Participate in the development of data standards incorporating industry best practices across Reference data, Master data and Metadata.
- Promote education and develop training, awareness and adoption program of Data Governance disciplines and objectives across the Group.
- Serve as a liaison between business units and technology to ensure data governance requirements are well understood and considered as part of operational prioritization and planning
- Be an agent of change and inculcate data governance culture and discipline across the Bank’s business and technical processes

**Job Requirements**:

- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Computing or related disciplines with at least 10 years of working experience in the banking industry, or consulting industry with strong exposure to Financial Services
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of Data Governance discipline, especially on financial industry best practices and across the regulatory landscape
- Good understanding of risk frameworks and related disciplines such as risk and control self-assessment.
- Good understanding of data management and related disciplines, sound methodology and experience in governance tools (master data management, data quality, metadata, etc.) and technology
- Experience of working with Big Data platforms and ETL tools is an advantage
- Good project management and facilitation skills, with the ability to manage different stakeholders across the Bank and to navigate through conflicts with ease
- Demonstrated good leadership and excellent team player who possesses drive, proactivity and curiosity
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent written / oral communication skills and ability to translate ideas, strategies and actions into storyboard, process documents and presentation materials
