We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior Search Engineer / Architect with experience in designing, developing, and optimizing search solutions (using technology like Elasticsearch or Vespa) to join our team. Experience with vector-based search and NLP technologies is a plus. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing domain-specific search solutions that drive meaningful engagement and results for our users. You will be working closely with our engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration of search functionality into our products.

**In this role, you will need to**:

- Design, develop, and optimize search solutions using Vespa, leveraging its advanced features to deliver best-in-class search experiences for our users
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, and develop search solutions that address the unique needs of each user
- Provide technical and architectural leadership and be a primary contact for architecture pertaining to the search
- Communicate and coordinate activities with other teams such as QA, BA, and infrastructure
- Continuously monitor and analyze search performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to optimize search relevancy and ranking
- Stay up to date with the latest developments in the search domain and contribute to the integration of new techniques and technologies into our search platform
- Assist in the development of testing frameworks and methodologies to ensure the quality and performance of search solutions
- If required, during your initial months, you will receive appropriate mentorship from Vespa experts to develop technology-related know-how
- Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in search engine development, with a strong focus on search and analytics technology, like Elasticsearch or Vespa
- Deep understanding of search algorithms, ranking, and relevancy optimization
- Proficiency in Python/Java or other programming languages commonly used in search engineering
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment

**It will be good to have**:

- Experience with search technologies, such as Solr, ElasticSearch, or Vespa
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) and information retrieval (IR) techniques
- Experience with both text and vector-based search in Elasticsearch (or other systems)
- Experience with learning-to-rank models
- Experience working with large-scale, high-availability search systems
- Basic understanding of DataOps that will assist in loading data into the indexes
