We are currently looking for a highly motivated and experienced **Lead - Search Engineer** with a focus on **Vespa (Vector Database)** to join our team.

As a Lead Search Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing search solutions that drive meaningful engagement and results for our users. You will be working closely with our engineering and product teams to ensure seamless integration of** Vespa-powered search functionality into our products.**

**Job Responsibilities -**
- Design, develop, and optimize search solutions using Vespa, leveraging its advanced features to deliver best-in-class search experiences for our users.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, and develop search solutions that address the unique needs of each user.
- Provide technical and architectural leadership and be a primary contact for architecture pertaining to search
- Communicate and coordinate activities with other teams such as QA, BA, and infrastructure
- Continuously monitor and analyze search performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes to optimize search relevancy and ranking.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in the search domain and contribute to the integration of new techniques and technologies into our search platform.
- Assist in the development of testing frameworks and methodologies to ensure the quality and performance of search solutions.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and offshore developers, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

**Requirements**:

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in search engine development, **5+ years of experience in a strong focus on Vespa search technology.**:

- Deep understanding of search algorithms, ranking, and relevancy optimization.
- Proficiency in Python/Java or other programming languages commonly used in search engineering.
- Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and distributed systems.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

**Nice to have**:

- Experience with other search technologies, such as Elasticsearch or Solr.
- Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP) and information retrieval (IR) techniques.
- Experience with both text and vector-based search in Vespa (or other systems)
- Experience with learning-to-rank models
- Experience working with large-scale, high-availability search systems.
- Basic understanding of data operations that will assist in loading data into the indexes.
