Primary Responsibilities
Staff management and development
- Recruit new sales team members who have the required skills, an appetite to learn and enthusiasm for the contribution the sales team makes to the business.Identify the team behaviors, competencies and outcomes that contribute to success and support each team member to achieve these, reflected as the highest standards of service and support to our customers.Develop a positive and productive performance culture where employees receive constructive feedback, are recognized for results achieved and supported where improvement is required.
Customer management
- Lead the Sales team to manage highly professional business relationships with our independent and group restaurant customers.Represent GP in the relevant chefs and industry associations playing an active role in supporting industry issues and young talent development.Represent GP in customer and industry events as appropriate.
Sales targets
- In conjunction with the GP Singapore management team identify the annual financial year sales & gross profit $ budgets for all the channels.Maintain the sales team monthly targets reflecting the appropriate balance between achievable and motivating sales outcomes with a core focus on driving a strategic growth objective with profitability.Work with the team to exceed the targets-Monitor customer responsibilities to ensure a balanced portfolio between teams with an appropriate commission objective for individuals and room to nurture customers alongside new business.Report on team achievement and market activity as required.
New Business development
- Maintain a core team focus on basket growth with all teams working to achieve additionalproducts and categories in current customers.
- Engage closely with the Business Development and Procurement teams to grow sales in ouridentified strategic brands and categories, ensuring that they have the relevant market intelligence, customer engagement and promotional execution from the sales team to ensure success.
- Be hands on alongside the sales team in the development of strategic customeropportunities and brand partners in identified channels, building on our existing supply chainto expand our market coverage.
- Continue to develop the specialist cuisine focus which is a core GP strategy, working with ourspecialist teams to deepen their market and category coverage.
- Identify and grow new specialist channels and brand partners as the industry develops.
- Work closely with the Marketing and Business Development team to deliver marketingprograms that offer customers tangible value opportunities and drive increased sales for GP.
- Make use of the many GP resources including the Singapore Executive Chef team, our sistercompanies Bidfood and Bidfood Innovations.
Inventory Management
- Provide the Business Development and Procurement teams with all volume forecasts asrequired to ensure that demand and supply align and non-supply is minimized (eliminated).
- Troubleshot potential inventory issues where demand has not followed forecast; ensure thatslow moving stock concerns are addressed promptly with customers and stock is clearedbefore expiry.
Company leadership
- Participate deeply in the overall company strategy as a member of the management team.
- Support other teams and managers in their own objectives and KPI’s reflecting our belief thatthe best success is as a team.
