Regional Head of Compliance, WB Asia

**Overview**

As Regional Head of Compliance, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of Compliance risk - including Financial Crime, Quality Assurance, Conduct and Integrated Compliance - across the Asia region for Wholesale Banking (WB). As such, you will act as the escalation point for all Asia Country Heads of Compliance (all of whom will report functionally to you) for any compliance related matter. Your functional escalation will be the Global WB Head of Compliance or relevant deputy. Entity wise, you will report to the regional CRO WB Asia.

**Responsibilities**
- Oversee the end-to-end Compliance control framework in Asia.
- Drive continued transformation initiatives in line with global functional strategic objectives
- Oversight and accountability for the activities of the Compliance teams across Asia.
- Ensure Compliance risks are appropriately identified, managed, monitored and reported in line with governance framework and that applicable rules and regulations (local and global) are understood and implemented throughout the Asia business.
- Ensure transparent and effective management of risks and issues across the region in collaboration with relevant first line stakeholders, including relevant escalations up the line where required.
- Perform the role of trusted advisor to the WB business, overseeing and checking/challenging initiatives relating to Compliance aspects of systems and controls relevant to the Compliance control framework.
- Represent the Asia region (including all WB Asia countries) during interactions with other Regional and Group WB Compliance Heads.
- Oversee the provision of advice and training on regulatory requirements, policies and developments. Support the first line of defense (1LOD) teams with advice, identification and interpretation for all compliance related risks and constructively challenge the 1LOD.
- Advise on new products, businesses and technologies as required within the region.
- Be a strategic partner to the 1LOD to ensure that potential compliance risks and issues are identified, challenged and mitigated.
- Represent Asia Compliance as needed on various run-the-bank and change-the-bank Compliance related projects, including at senior management committees.
- Support countries in the liaison with regulators, auditors and other external agencies.
- Oversee, monitor and challenge the resolution of issues, incidents and audit points related to all compliance matters.
- Drive risk mindset and solution orientated approach for collaboration among Asia countries on applicable regulatory initiatives.
- Ensure that all key performance indicators, metrics and controls related to Compliance operate within risk appetite & regulatory expectations and any exceptions are challenged, escalated and resolved promptly.

**Requirements**:

- You are an Orange Code ambassador; for more information about the Orange Code: ING-Orange-code.
- 10+ years experience in Compliance, ideally within Wholesale Banking or Regulator.
- Advanced level of proficiency in regulations, policies and standards across key Asian jurisdictions with respect to Conduct and Financial Crime.
- Proven track record of leading teams.
- You are a team player; you trust others and can be trusted.

- Strong stakeholder management skills; able to collaborate and communicate effectively across the three lines of defense.
- Gravitas to deal with senior management, auditors and regulators.
- You work independently, think and act out of the box and take accountability.
- Excellent understanding of the wholesale banking business including products and compliance related risks.
- Bachelor's degree or above; CAMS or relevant certification preferred.
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Results oriented, dedicated and have flexibility to adapt well to a dynamic working environment with high level of integrity, sense of urgency, attention to detail and quality standards.
