**About the role**

We are looking for **a Principal Advisor - Strategy** to partner with the business to evolve its various commercial book strategies and lead strategic and transformational projects.

Reporting to the Senior Manager - Strategy, you will contribute to the following:

- Drive and embed sound governance, aligned with our strategy and planning framework.
- Develop a strong understanding of specific market and customer needs, where value sits, and how to capture it.
- Collaborate with and constructively challenge commercial book owners to develop robust strategies.
- May occasionally support strategy activities that are more operationally oriented (need to have sufficient agility).
- Support annual planning processes in partnership with the business and finance.
- Lead strategic and transformational projects on an end-to-end basis.

**About you**

**To be successfully considered for this role, you will have**:

- University degree in business, engineering, or related.
- Strong strategic and commercial acumen; naturally a big-picture thinker who welcomes complexity and uncertainty.
- Curious, analytical mindset; can deliver meaningful insights.
- Ability to drive effective decision-making through strong communication and stakeholder management skills (inclusive executive management levels).
- Ability to shape complexity into clear proposals, including developing articulate, compelling presentations and papers that focus on what decision-makers need to know.
- Ability to navigate and thrive in a matrix organization yet execute and deliver independently with limited guidance.

Rio Tinto Commercial puts the company’s value over-volume approach into practice, with the goal of maximizing the value of our physical flows to improve both our business and that of our customers. Headquartered in Singapore, and integrated with Rio Tinto’s assets, hubs, and offices globally, our Commercial group works hand-in-hand with our product groups to ensure both the amount and types of products we produce meet our customer’s needs, and manage the trade-off between volumes, quality, cost and capital expenditure.
