Our Research Scientists are our Inventors. We discover and target steps in disease mechanisms or pathways with the goal to identify agents that are effective in treating or preventing human disease. Using innovative thinking, state-of-the-art facilities, and robust scientific methodology we collaborate to discover the next medical breakthrough.
**Key responsibilities**:
- Utilize your background and experience in immunology or immune-oncology research to independently develop and implement potency, selectivity, and mechanistic assays to support compound screening and pharmacological characterization/differentiation using sophisticated experimental methods.
- Work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team to support research strategies and project goals, critically analyze data and contribute ideas to drive projects forward.
- Lead junior scientists, drive scientific innovation, and champion new enabling technologies to enhance functional capability and productivity.
**Qualifications**:
- PhD in immunology or immune-oncology or in a relevant scientific area with more than 5 years of Postdoctoral experience. Research experienced gained in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting a plus.
- Extensive experience in human immunology or immune-oncology (or in a relevant scientific area), experience in T cell or myeloid cell biology research is strongly preferred.
- Extensive cell culture experience, preferably working with primary human tissue.
- Strong practical experience including isolation, culture, and experimental manipulation of various primary immune cell populations culture and complex flow cytometry systems; willingness to train and lead other research scientists in the design and execution of complex experiments.
- Extensive experience in the execution of immunophenotyping, and a wide range of cellular immunological assays suitable for target identification and functional characterization of biologics and small molecules, including reporter assays, cytokine quantification, receptor target engagement, quantitative PCR (qPCR) and mixed cell assay systems such as PBMC-based functional immune assays (ADCC/ADCP/MLR), preferably within a drug discovery environment.
- Good knowledge of oncology or tumour microenvironments, experience working with complex 3D models would be highly desirable.
- Hands-on experience with advanced imaging techniques would be a plus.
- Solid experimental design, troubleshooting, and data analysis skills.
- Independent, science-based, and innovative thinking, and the ability to mine scientific literature and databases is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral/written communication skills with the ability to thrive in a goal-driven team environment.
