**JOB PURPOSE**:
Under general supervision of the Human Resources Manager you will provide assistance on the HR functions.
**JOB DUTIES**:
- Assists with administrative or clerical work in relation to various human resource support operations.
- Counsel leaders when requisitions are needed and how to initiate a job opening. Provide counsel on flexible workforce guidelines. Manage conflicts between managers’ desire and corporate policy.
- Monitor and ensure Performance Planning Summaries and interim ratings are complete for business partners and LTDP program participants.
- Analyze and complete mass change reorganizations, including analyzing necessary tree updates and requisition and Performance Planning Summary requirements.
- Prepare leaders for voluntary and involuntary separations. Counseling leaders on the steps involved and ensure all legal compliance with separation paperwork.
- Track and report on metrics and measurements for human resource functions and provide data to management.
- Responsible for the recruitment process, using cost-effective methods to recruit qualified applicants for vacant positions locally and aboard as required. Responsible for the recruitment process including sourcing, screening resumes and in-depth interviewing coordination.
- Consult with department manager on position details. Verify the job description is current. Maintain requisition approval form. Create job postings to match the job responsibilities and requirements and post both internally and externally.
- Identify the appropriate posting resources (job boards, colleges and universities etc ).
- Attend career fairs at local colleges and universities regularly.
- Ensure the vacant positions are featured on our website. Once position has been filled ensure the position has been removed from our website.
- Screen résumés to assess suitability for interviewing and schedule interviews. Conduct interviews - in person and via phone. Interview applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education and job skills.
- Develop a formal screening process.
- Conduct reference checks when requested by department manager.
- Develop creative recruitment strategies and solutions to source, attract and hire quality employees.
- Maintain the Employee Referral Policy. Regularly promote the policy to employees.
- Investigate various wage subsidy programs that are offered by the government.
- Support the HR Manager with the recruitment process. Assist and support the health and safety program. Attend Safety Group meetings as required.
- Prepare new hire packages and conduct employee orientation sessions.
- Submit LTDP rotational moves & grad placement moves
- Initiate TaxTrax survey for all active LTDPs each quarter
- Respond to telephone inquiries from employees.
- Assist in preparing and conducting orientation and training programs as necessary.
- Perform general administrative duties: data entry, filing, benefit administration, typing letters and memos.
- Order, arrange and oversee the selling of event tickets (LTDP Site Visits and tours.
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports when necessary.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Participate in various HR related projects as directed by the HR Manager.
- Follow any ISO policies and practices developed for the department.
- Health and Safety performance will be evaluated annually.
- Meet the safety requirements identified in section 27 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Other duties and projects as assigned.
**BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE**:
The position requires knowledge of various Caterpillar personnel and/or benefits policies and programs. Personal computer skills are required.
The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.
The position typically requires 2 years of technical school, an apprenticeship program, a junior college diploma, or the equivalent experience.
In addition, one to two years of job-related experience are typically required. Good human relations skills are required to develop a cooperative work relationship with others inside and outside the department.
