**Fleet Strategy and Management**:

- Develop and execute the long-term fleet strategy to align with the company’s business goals and growth objectives.
- Oversee the overall management and operational performance of the fleet of vessels, ensuring they are deployed effectively across shipping routes and operations.Optimize fleet utilization, ensure a balanced fleet composition, and identify opportunities for fleet expansion or reduction based on market conditions and company needs.

**Budget and Financial Management**:

- Create, manage, and optimize the fleet budget, with a focus on controlling operating costs such as fuel, maintenance, and crew management.
- Oversee procurement and acquisition of new vessels, second-hand vessels, balancing financial investment with operational needs.Implement cost-saving measures, including energy-efficient operations and maintenance schedules that extend vessel lifecycles.

**Vessel Maintenance, Repair, and Compliance**:

- Ensure all vessels are maintained to the highest standards, following manufacturer guidelines, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and maximize fleet availability.Monitor vessel compliance with maritime regulations, including safety standards, environmental regulations, and flag state requirements.

**Safety and Risk Management**:

- Develop and enforce safety protocols and best practices for fleet operations, focusing on minimizing accidents, environmental damage, and operational disruptions.
- Ensure crew safety training programs are in place and regularly updated, focusing on emergency response, vessel operations, and compliance with maritime safety standards.Manage risk assessments and work with insurance providers to ensure adequate coverage and risk mitigation strategies for the fleet.

**Fleet Performance and Operational Efficiency**:

- Analyze fleet performance data to identify opportunities for improving operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Use technologies such as vessel monitoring systems (VMS), fleet management software, and predictive analytics to improve fleet operations and reduce costs.Develop and implement strategies to improve fuel efficiency, reduce emissions, and increase vessel performance.

**Vendor and Third-Party Management**:

- Manage relationships with shipyards, suppliers, and service providers for the maintenance, repair, and procurement of vessels and parts.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with service providers, ensuring high-quality work, competitive pricing, and adherence to timelines.Oversee vessel dry-docking, maintenance schedules, and refit programs to ensure vessels remain compliant with industry standards.

**Fleet Expansion and New Builds**:

- Lead initiatives for fleet expansion, including acquisition of new vessels or investment in new technologies (e.g., green fuel, automation).Evaluate new vessel designs, technologies, and upgrades to enhance fleet performance and meet future regulatory and market demands.

**Team Leadership and Development**:

- Lead, mentor, and manage the fleet operations team, ensuring high levels of performance, accountability, and development.
- Oversee the recruitment and training of key personnel such as fleet managers, engineers, and port operations staff.Foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence within the fleet management team.

**Reporting and Stakeholder Communication**:

- Prepare and deliver regular reports to senior management, including the CEO and Board of Directors, on fleet performance, financials, safety, and regulatory compliance.
- Provide updates on market trends, regulatory changes, and industry challenges that could impact fleet operations.
- Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, customers, and external parties regarding fleet status, delays, or operational changes.

**Job Requirements**

**Educational Background**:
Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Maritime Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage.

**Experience**:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the maritime/shipping industry, with at least 5 years in a senior fleet management or technical leadership role.

**Technical Expertise**:
In-depth knowledge of vessel operations, technical management, maintenance planning, dry-docking, and regulatory compliance (IMO, ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.).

**Leadership & Management**:
Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team of superintendents, technical staff, and crew. Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and performance optimization across a fleet.

**Regulatory & Safety Knowledge**:
Comprehensive understanding of international maritime laws, classification societies, flag state regulations, and safety management systems.

**Operational Acumen**:
Strong track record in managing fleet performance, minimizing downtime, and improving cost efficiency
