Overview The Home Team Science and Technology Agency (HTX) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) which aims to pioneer innovation solutions and develop world class science and technology capabilities to transform and empower the Home Team in delivering safety and security for Singapore. Senior Principal Engineer (Network) is responsible to lead in the strategizing, planning, architecting and solutioning as well as delivery of joint capabilities initiatives, specifically in the technology area of network. The job holder is also required to provide consultancy ICT network infrastructure for MHQ, HTX as well as MHA internal WAN and perimeter defences for the whole of MHA. What you will be working on Plan, strategize, develop, architect, initiate and project lead network infrastructure solutions implementation. Review ICT initiatives and programmes as well as identifying opportunities to harmonise IT solutions, to achieve alignment with the over-arching ICT infrastructures and architecture. Provide direction and coach/mentor staff with the objective of attracting and maintaining a motivated and high performing team. Manage the overall Operations of all services to meet/exceed the agreed service levels. Lead or support the management of major ICT infrastructure incidents. Approve key ICT network infrastructure system design and configuration changes. Collaborate with other HTX and Home Team users to contribute to the implementation of ICT network solutions and continuous enhancement of processes. Facilitate the formulation of network requirements, design, implementation and integration of network solution for the identified project. Required good understanding of regulatory/policy requirements, network concepts, products knowledge and operational requirements and limitation. Architecting and designing riding on Zero Trust Architecture principles for the following areas: Software Defined Networks, Local Area Network, Wired Deployment, Wireless (e.g. Wi-Fi 6/6E), Cabling. Incorporating industry best practices and industry collaboration to build ecosystem of partners and capabilities. Conduct research and trials to understand technologies and its applications; continuous landscape review of disruptive and new technologies. As part of project management, work with relevant stakeholders (internal and external) and vendors to deliver the system(s) and/or projects, ensuring that budget, specifications and any other requirements are being adhered to. System(s) and/or projects can be physical, virtualised and/or cloud-based. Manage the operation of the end user computing, systems, applications, infrastructure common services (AD/DNS, DHCP, Software Deployment etc), network and application hosting infrastructures to ensure that these are well maintained and operational at all times. Formulate Operation & Support Standards for Enterprise Infrastructure, Network, Systems & ICT Infra across MHA for ease of maintenance. Evaluate and recommend the use of leading edge network technologies and methods, considering factors such as their long-term effectiveness (service delivery and cost), practicality, technical limitations and criticality. Technology areas can be physical, virtualised and/or cloud-based. Experience in Architecting, Solutioning, Deployment, Maintenance and Troubleshooting of Software Defined Networks. Any other tasks as assigned. What we are looking for Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/ Engineering or relevant disciplines. At least 8 years of relevant networking working experience for Principal Engineer and at least 10 years for Senior Principal Engineer in a suitably sized enterprise environment. In-depth technical experience and knowledge in the following area: Architecting, plan and delivery of projects in the technology area of Enterprise Infrastructure management, common services/solutions (AD/DNS, DHCP, Software Deployment etc) and endpoint. These technology areas can be physical, virtualised and/or cloud-based. Strong planning design and architectural solutioning skills, with facilitation skills, problem-solving skills and organising capabilities. Working experience in computer networking or the telecommunications industry. Preference will be given to candidates with project management certifications such as CAPM, PMP, ITIL, CITPM and professionally recognised certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent certification. Strong interest in technologies and innovation, particularly in enterprise infrastructure. Competent, self-motivated, pro-active, dedicated and responsible as well as having the ability to work independently without the need for close supervision. Able to work independently and as a team. Facilitation skills, planning skills, problem-solving skills, organising capabilities and foresight to drive projects. Good interpersonal and communications skills for internal/external stakeholder engagement.
