The Assistant Director will provide leadership and administrative oversight for a multidisciplinary centre focused on holistic learning and development. The role involves driving strategic initiatives, managing operations, supporting research and policy implementation, and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders at both local and national levels. Centre Administration & Strategy Lead the administration of the Centre, including strategy development and implementation in collaboration with the Executive Director and Management Team. Oversee Centre operations and activities while maintaining effective communication with senior internal and external stakeholders. Leadership & Operations Work alongside and deputise for the Executive Director and Management Team in supervising daily administrative functions, overseeing project management, strategic planning, budgeting, manpower planning, and stakeholder engagement. Develop and implement processes that support operational efficiency, research, policy activities, and Centre-wide initiatives. Outreach & Engagement Lead outreach efforts with government, industry, policy, and research stakeholders through events such as webinars, seminars, workshops, and conferences at both local and national levels. Procurement & Compliance Oversee negotiations and agreements related to procurement, projects, grants, sponsorships, and donations, ensuring compliance with relevant policies and regulations. Manage audit queries as needed. Strategic Planning & Reporting Drive the development and delivery of the Centre's strategic workplan, ensuring timely achievement of deliverables, milestones, and budgetary goals. Provide regular updates and reports to stakeholders. Communications & Visibility Oversee communication strategies, including website content, publications, and research dissemination, in coordination with institutional and national communication teams. People Management Manage and guide Centre staff through direct and matrix reporting structures, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment. Representation Represent and deputise for the Executive Director in meetings, events, and other official functions as required. Other Duties Perform other related responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director and Management Team. Requirements: A good first degree in management, education, communication, or any other relevant discipline At least 5 years of relevant experience in administration, operations, or project management, preferably within a higher education or research environment. Strong strategic and creative thinking abilities, with a track record of driving organisational initiatives Proven experience in managing, tracking, and presenting budgets clearly and effectively. Meticulous, detail-oriented, and well-organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines independently. Demonstrated leadership skills with experience managing and developing teams; prior managerial experience in higher education is preferred. Collaborative and flexible, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. Inclusive, respectful, and engaging working style. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams); advanced Excel skills preferred for budget management and reporting. Skilled in using virtual meeting and conferencing tools such as Zoom. Basic understanding of social media management and engagement across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn. Familiarity with project management software will be an advantage.
