Purpose of the Job

The Assistant Dry Docking Commercial Superintendent reports to the Senior Dry-Docking Commercial Superintendent. This position is responsible for planning, preparation and follow up with the shipyards on the fleet vessels drydocking projects. This will be performed in close coordination with the commercial and the Fleet Management department.

Job Accountabilities/Key Responsibilities

• To assist the Senior Dry-Docking Commercial Superintendent in the review of the Dry-Dock repair specifications submissions and partner with stakeholders to ensure completeness and clarity on dry-docking activities required.
• Liaise with Shipyards' representatives to provide dock space and progress updates check on any repair projects.
• To control the overall dry-docking expenses to be within the approved Budget.
• To prepare weekly financial progress reports to assist the attending Superintendent on the status of the projects during the course of repairs at shipyard.
• To control the expenses within the allocated budget by continuous monitoring and weekly reporting of costs and to highlight increased/decreased cost.
• To support Senior Dry-Docking Commercial Superintendent in the preparation of the Dry-Docking variance report or shipyard bill settlement.
• To support Senior Dry-Docking Commercial Superintendent in the preparation of the yearly Dry-Docking budget for the following year and maintain an updated 5-year docking schedule.
• To update the database for dry-docking such as History of Hull painting, Hold painting and Tank painting to assist Management decision making.
• Tracking of KPIs related to Dry Dock Department.
• Assist planning of attendance in yard, onboard inspections, etc.
• Issuing POs to suppliers / vendors of the Dry-Docking spares and services, also ensuring the yard and supplier / vendors' invoices are reviewed and cleared in time.
• To follow-up and correct the discrepancy between PO/Invoice amounts, ensuring that the payments are made before the due date.
• Provide support for Audit and manage vendors / contractor / supplier / shipyards on quality of materials and services provided.
• Involvement in special projects and programs as directed by the Head of Department - Dry Docking and Repairs.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience of managing Dry docking of vessels or having worked in dry-docking commercial position in a shipping company or estimator in Shipyard.
• Prior experience as a superintendent in a shipping company or experience from Shipyard will be beneficial.
• Computer Literacy in MS Office, and advance proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
