1. Scaffolding Work Planning & Coordination

  • Review project work packs and identify scaffolding requirements for all disciplines (mechanical, electrical, painting, inspection).
  • Prepare scaffolding plans and layout drawings in coordination with construction supervisors and safety teams.
  • Plan material requirements (tubes, fittings, boards, tags) and coordinate with Preservation & Logistic Manager for timely delivery.
  • Prioritize scaffolding jobs to align with the construction schedule and shutdown/critical path activities.

2. Supervision of Scaffold Erection, Modification, and Dismantling

  • Direct and monitor scaffolders during erection, modification, and dismantling of scaffold structures, ensuring compliance with design and load specifications.
  • Coordinate with QA/QC and HSE for scaffold inspections before handover for use.
  • Ensure scaffold tags (green/yellow/red) are updated and visible at all times.

3. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce compliance with project HSE procedures, statutory regulations, and international standards (e.g., BS EN 12811, OSHA 1926).
  • Conduct scaffold safety toolbox talks and participate in daily coordination meetings.
  • Ensure scaffolds are erected and maintained with adequate access, guardrails, toe boards, and fall arrest measures.

4. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain an updated scaffold register with details of location, type, height, inspection dates, and responsible scaffolders.
  • Prepare daily and weekly scaffolding progress reports for submission to Site Manager and Project Control Manager.
  • Track scaffolding material usage and return to avoid losses.

5. Interface Management

  • Liaise with multiple workfront supervisors to ensure scaffolding availability matches upcoming tasks.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors or vendors involved in scaffolding supply or labour.

Special working conditions

  • Onshore site visits and extended working hours may be required during critical project phases.
  • Must be available for rapid deployment to project sites when operational issues arise.

Physical requirements

  • Fit for offshore work and able to meet physical demands including climbing, lifting, and extended standing in field conditions.

Education

  • Diploma, technical certificate, or trade school qualification in construction, scaffolding, or related field.

Specialized knowledge / experience

Scaffolding Systems Expertise

  • Strong knowledge of tube & coupler, ringlock, Cuplock, and Kwikstage scaffolding systems.
  • Ability to interpret scaffolding drawings, calculate load capacities, and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Industry & Project Experience

  • 7–10 years of scaffolding experience in EPC, offshore, oil & gas, or heavy industrial construction projects.
  • At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or coordination role.
  • Familiarity with fabrication yard practices and offshore construction environments.

Safety & Quality Awareness

  • Proficient in scaffolding safety practices, fall protection, and working-at-heights protocols.
  • Knowledge of ISO HSE) and ISO 9001 (Quality) systems.

Leadership & Communication Skills

  • Ability to lead scaffolding crews, delegate tasks, and mentor scaffolders.
  • Strong coordination skills to align scaffolding operations with multi-discipline project activities.

Documentation & Reporting

  • Experience maintaining scaffold registers, inspection reports, and usage records.
  • Skilled in preparing daily and weekly scaffolding progress reports.

Accreditation / certification

Professional Certifications

  • Certified Advanced Scaffolder or Scaffolding Supervisor (CISRS, SAIA, or equivalent national certification).
  • Scaffold Inspection Certificate (in line with BS EN 12811 or OSHA standards).

Safety & Offshore Training

  • Working at Heights and Fall Protection certification.
  • Confined Space Entry and Permit-to-Work (PTW) training.

Other Relevant Training

  • HSE Leadership or Safety Supervisor training.
  • First Aid certification (preferred).
