Business Development Manager – Commercial and Travel Insurance

We are looking for a results-driven General Insurance Business Development Manager to expand our Commercial and Travel Insurance portfolios. The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent negotiation skills, a strong network of industry contacts, and a passion for expanding market share. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Commercial Insurance:
Manage existing clients and solicit new business in commercial lines, including SMEs and government agencies.
Assess clients' business risks and tailor insurance solutions across property, liability, business interruption, and other risks.
Lead and manage tender processes from opportunity identification to proposal submission and contract management.
Collaborate with underwriting and claims teams to ensure smooth policy servicing and claims handling.
Share market insights, contribute innovative ideas, and improve distribution models as a subject matter expert.
Assist HOD with new product development and deployment.
Participate in business transformation initiatives to drive improvements.
Travel Insurance:
Drive growth through partnerships with travel agencies and related distribution channels.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents to promote engagement and revenue.
Enhance Etiqa's branding as a trusted travel insurance provider.
Conduct product and system training to improve sales effectiveness and ensure compliance.
Plan and execute sales campaigns to meet revenue goals.
Review partner performance regularly and address issues promptly.
Stay updated on market trends and competitors to keep our offerings ahead.
Lead projects to improve products and customer experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Insurance, or related field.
Certification in PGI and ComGI is mandatory.
5-7 years of experience in business development within the insurance industry.
At least 3 years managing agency business.
Experience with insurtech/fintech/TSAs partnerships is preferred.
Deep understanding of commercial lines underwriting.
Strong interpersonal skills with a sales and service mindset.
Experience in launching new products and familiarity with agile methodologies.
Proficiency in performance analysis, PowerPoint, business proposals, and contracts.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, resilient, creative, and flexible problem-solver.
