Senior/Assistant Director

What the role is The Communicable Diseases Agency (CDA) is a new government agency established to oversee Singapore’s communicable disease preparedness, prevention and control, surveillance, risk assessment and outbreak response. You will provide leadership to the team of biostatisticians and modellers in the conduct of in-depth data analytics and infectious disease modelling, to deliver rigorous, timely and credibly data-backed insights which support evidence-based policy making and decisions as well as public health interventions. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment that would require the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders at the same time. What you will be working on Exploration, development and deployment of advanced analytics, machine learning and deep learning models, to derive actionable insights from data to support evidence-based policy making and decisions as well as public health interventions Analyses of communicable disease outbreaks, including cluster analyses, regressions, attributable risks, effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of countermeasures and determination of outbreak thresholds Modelling to assess possible disease trajectories and impact of interventions Derivation of forecasts for different disease scenarios Long-term disease projections and derivation of burden of disease You will also manage the day to day operations of the team, including fostering professional development of the team. What we are looking for Minimally a recognised tertiary education preferably a Master’s degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or a related field Doctoral degree preferred Technical proficiency in biostatistics and modelling software and data visualization tools At least 5 years in the field of public health, biostatistics, data analytics, data science or modelling At least 2 years in a leadership role Experience with advanced biostatistics and modelling methodologies Strong track record of publications in scientific peer-reviewed journals on epidemiologic studies or other relevant studies Strong communication, writing and presentation skills Analytical, detail-oriented, and responsible Possess good time/priority management, resilient and flexible under the pressure Excellent organization and problem-solving skills with the ability to respond effectively in a fast-paced environment Good interpersonal and team management skills, and strong stakeholder management experience As part of the shortlisting process for this role, candidates may be required to complete a medical declaration and/or undergo further assessment About Ministry of Health The Ministry of Health’s (MOH) vision is to champion a healthy nation with our people – to live well, live long and with peace of mind.
