Job Overview: The Business Development Manager (BDM) for a Minimart is responsible for expanding the business, increasing sales, and driving overall profitability through new customer acquisition, partnerships, and market expansion. This role involves identifying market opportunities, managing client relationships, enhancing the store's brand, and developing strategies to boost product offerings and store visibility. The BDM works closely with operations, marketing, and supply chain teams to ensure growth and success within a highly competitive retail environment. Key Responsibilities: Market Expansion and Strategy Development: Identify new market opportunities for store locations and online platforms. Develop strategic plans to increase store foot traffic, improve sales, and expand the customer base. Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activity. Sales and Revenue Growth: Develop and implement sales strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets for the Minimart. Oversee promotional campaigns, product launches, and seasonal offers to drive sales. Negotiate with suppliers, manufacturers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and timely delivery of products. Monitor store performance and adjust strategies as needed to optimize sales. Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain long-term relationships with key customers and community stakeholders. Develop loyalty programs or customer engagement strategies to increase repeat business. Resolve customer issues or complaints in a timely and professional manner. Collect customer feedback to improve the store’s offerings and services. Supplier and Vendor Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to ensure an optimal inventory mix. Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, ensuring cost-effective purchases without compromising product quality. Monitor inventory turnover and work with the operations team to ensure products are available when needed. Brand Development and Marketing: Work with the marketing team to enhance the Minimart’s brand presence and visibility in local communities. Oversee the development of in-store and online promotions to attract and retain customers. Implement digital marketing strategies, including social media, email campaigns, and website management, to build awareness. Manage and optimize local advertising, such as flyers, billboards, and event sponsorships. Operational Support and Collaboration: Collaborate with store management and the operations team to ensure efficient day-to-day business activities. Support store teams in achieving operational goals, including improving customer service, product availability, and store cleanliness. Conduct staff training on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service practices. Financial Management: Monitor sales data and financial performance to track profitability and ensure budgets are adhered to. Develop pricing strategies to remain competitive while ensuring profitability. Prepare regular reports on business performance, sales progress, and market trends. Competitive Analysis and Reporting: Conduct regular competitive analysis to keep track of pricing, promotions, and new products. Identify new trends in the retail space that could benefit the Minimart’s growth and customer appeal.
