Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Horticultural Specialist to join our Living Collections team. As part of this team, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing the landscapes and plant collections within the Gardens' heritage core, which dates back to its early years. This area encompasses historical landscapes and plant collections that showcase the evolution of the Gardens.

The successful candidate will have experience in developing and maintaining plant collections, preferably in a public park or garden. You will be expected to propagate and conserve rare plant species, undertake landscaping and habitat restoration, develop interpretive materials for the public, oversee contract management and record keeping, ensure site cleanliness, manage wildlife, and collaborate with other operational teams to ensure smooth running of the Gardens.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maintain and develop the landscapes and plant collections within the Gardens' heritage core.

2. Propagate and conserve rare plant species.

3. Undertake landscaping and habitat restoration.

4. Develop interpretive materials for the public.

5. Oversee contract management and record keeping.

6. Ensure site cleanliness.

7. Manage wildlife.

8. Collaborate with other operational teams to ensure smooth running of the Gardens.


Required Skills and Qualifications
We are looking for a motivated and proactive individual with initiative in following up on site management and assigned tasks. The ideal candidate should be a team player with strong communication, organisational, and supervisory skills. A hands-on individual who enjoys outdoor work and has a passion for plants is essential. Experience in tropical horticulture and botany is beneficial, and certification as a Practising Horticulturist or Certified Arborist is advantageous.
