Building Compliance Specialist

We are seeking a building compliance specialist to support inspections and maintenance activities.

Job Description

The successful candidate will carry out on-site inspections, perform routine checks, and liaise with contractors and regulatory authorities to ensure that buildings and systems meet building codes and safety requirements.

  • Conduct regular and ad-hoc inspections of building systems (structural, mechanical, electrical, lifts, plumbing, fire protection as applicable) to verify compliance with building regulations and project specifications.

Prepare clear inspection reports, non-conformance reports, and maintenance records; track remediation and follow up to closure.

Assist with permit and license applications, submission of required documentation to relevant authorities, and support audits and site visits by regulators.

Implement and monitor preventive maintenance schedules and record keeping (logbooks, computer-aided facilities management/electronic asset management systems).

Ensure safe working practices on site; conduct or participate in toolbox talks and safety briefings; report hazards and near misses.

Liaise with project managers, building owners, tenants, and external contractors to coordinate works and access.

Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and critical spare parts; ensure calibration and statutory testing are up to date.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Diploma or certification in building technology, mechanical/electrical engineering, construction management, or related trade certification.

Current and valid building license relevant to the trade and scope of work.

Strong working knowledge of building codes/regulations and relevant local standards.

Proficient in completing inspection forms, technical reports, and using computer-aided facilities management/electronic asset management or Microsoft Office tools.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to liaise effectively with regulators, contractors, and clients.

Ability to work independently on site and as part of a team; flexible with occasional after-hours response for emergencies.
