Market Analysis Director Job

Our organization seeks a seasoned market analysis director to lead a team of experts in providing oversight and guidance on market analysis direction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct a local team of market analysts, providing strategic guidance and oversight on market analysis initiatives.
  • Collaborate with global strategists and analysts to develop comprehensive trading strategies based on fundamental analysis.
  • Engage with local trading managers to understand business needs and tailor analysis accordingly.
Primary Accountabilities
  1. Develop and maintain a deep understanding of key trading positions in crude, clean products, fuel oil, NGL, LPG, renewables, and coordinate local market analysts' work to suggest/evaluate required analysis.
  2. Coordinate the development and maintenance of supply and demand models for the Heavies group.
  3. Work closely with market analysts to improve the accuracy of supply and demand models and forecasts.
  4. Identify market anomalies and communicate potential physical market and forward market changes to Trading.
  5. Collaborate with traders and the global team of strategists to predict market behaviors using models.
  6. Nurture relationships with external consultants and other analysts to enhance market understanding.
  7. Participate in regular meetings with traders and contribute to generating trading ideas.
  8. Lead local team preparation for global trading meetings.
  9. Update corporate long-range price forecasts.
  10. Develop and implement quantitative analysis methods to capitalize on opportunities in financials trading.
  11. Provide coaching and mentorship to support the development of the team of analysts.
Requirements:
  • Master's or advanced degree in engineering, finance, or economics.
  • At least 10 years of experience in market analysis, preferably at a major energy company or investment bank, with prior experience leading a team of market analysts.
  • Experience working in different trading hubs is an asset.
  • Strong written, oral communication, and presentation skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Access, or other database software, statistical modeling software, and economic model development is a plus.
  • Highly collaborative individual with excellent cross-functional team management skills.
