Special Needs Caregiver Job Description">

As a Special Needs Caregiver, you will work with children and adults with disabilities, providing support and assistance with daily living activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized care and support to clients with varying needs and abilities
  • Assist with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Support clients with intellectual disabilities, autism, or developmental needs in adult day programs, special education, or sheltered workshops
  • Facilitate ADL (activities of daily living), vocational tasks, or community-based instruction
Requirements:
  • Degree in any of the following fields: Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or Allied Health Support, Education, Adult Education, Early Childhood, or Disability Studies
  • WSQ Certificate in Disability Management or equivalent preferred
  • First Aid & CPR Certification required or willing to obtain
  • Crisis Management / Behaviour Support preferred
  • Minimum 1 year working experience with individuals with intellectual disabilities, autism, or developmental needs
  • Familiarity with structured teaching, visual supports, and person-centered planning
