NIE invites applications for the position of Senior Assistant Director and Head, Administration, Office of Research.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategic plans for administrative structures in the Office of Research.
  2. Oversight of administrative units and operational processes in the Office of Research and Research Centres.
  3. Strategic oversight of administrative processes for ERFP and Non ERFP projects.
  4. Ensure good governance and compliance across research administration processes.
  5. Lead the development of professional standards and productivity of administrative staff.
  6. Build administrative capacity of MSOs in Office of Research.
  7. Oversight of budgets and disbursement of funds for programmes under the Office of Research.
  8. Evaluate and approve ERFP project fund virement requests.
  9. Perform approving authority within delegated funding limits.
  10. Assist Dean/Office of Research in coordinating staff appraisals.
  11. Chairperson for MSO interviews and recruitment.
  12. Liaise with CPDO on HR and FIN related matters.
  13. Oversight of regular stakeholders' reporting.
  14. Oversight of research projects' compliance to NIE's institutional guidelines.
  15. Support research management and project governance matters.
  16. Oversight of logistic support for events in Office of Research.
Requirements
  1. A university degree.
  2. Proven experience in administrative roles for at least 10 years, preferably in an academic or research setting.
  3. Strong leadership and people management skills.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Strong written and communication skills.
  6. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other relevant software.
  8. Critical and strategic thinking skills.
  9. Ability to manage and resolve conflicts.
  10. Ability to multitask.
  11. Facilitation of change management.
  12. Good numerical skills.
Closing Information

NIE staff can take chartered buses at their own expense from or near their homes to the NIE campus. This is subject to availability of seats.
