The role of a Principal Mechanical Materials Handling Engineer is to lead and coordinate the design, development, and implementation of mechanical materials handling systems. Key responsibilities include participating in bid clarification meetings, reviewing vendor proposals, and expediting material handling requirements.

Liaising with operations teams to meet operational and maintainability needs is also crucial. Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams ensures that designs are optimized to avoid costly changes during the engineering maturity phase.

Responsibilities also involve preparing material handling layouts, reports, and philosophies. Conducting simulations using PDMS/E3D/S3D software for critical packages and equipment is essential to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Apart from this, developing data sheets, TBCs, TBEs, and VDRs for material handling equipment is vital. Integrating handling methods into designs involves selecting, sizing, and specifying MH equipment.

Additionally, preparing valve matrices and valve handling study reports is necessary. Conducting feasibility studies for monorails and transfer devices helps identify effective solutions.

Analysing pad-eye/beam clamp/lay-down and hatch location studies ensures compliance with human factor ergonomics guidelines. Coordinating HFE design verification workshops and managing multidisciplinary design modifications is also key.

Preparing piping/MH close-out reports provides a comprehensive overview of the project's progress.

This role requires excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively across different teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential for success in this position.
