As a Regional Legal Strategist, you will be required to demonstrate sound legal judgment and decision-making, execute quickly under tight time constraints, and navigate projects with ambiguous or complex factors.

You will work closely with the global Security Legal team on regional advice on product developments and infrastructure projects, develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal, and policy legal risks, and resolve disputes in APAC.

The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in learning and working with new technologies and laws across jurisdictions and time zones.

Responsibilities
  • Drive strategy and provide advice on matters relating to user data disclosure in response to criminal, civil, and regulatory legal process
  • Develop, implement, and manage effective policies for processing legal requests for user data
  • Coordinate with the global Security Legal team on regional advice on product developments and infrastructure projects
  • Develop strategic approaches to managing regulatory, criminal, and policy legal risks and resolving disputes in APAC
  • Work closely with the company's safety and security teams to protect the people who use our service from abuse
  • Support legal and public policy teams' engagement with regulators and legislators on safety and security policies
  • Collaborate with members of Public Policy, Legal, Community Operations, Product, Engineering, and others on safety and security matters
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. or L.L.B. or equivalent degree
  • 8+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
  • Relevant Asia-Pacific regional experience engaging with law enforcement, regulators, and/or legislators on regulatory, safety, security, and/or criminal matters
  • Experience regionally on issues pertaining to data disclosure and analogous international laws
  • Demonstrated experience to effectively influence, communicate, and collaborate cross-functionally at all levels in a time-sensitive environment
  • Demonstrated experience to think strategically to solve legal challenges with attention to detail
  • Experience delivering advice under pressure and experience operating within ambiguity and prioritizing work
