Roles & Responsibilities
The Regional Strategist, UM Studios, leads content and creative strategy on an assigned portfolio of clients, bringing the best of UM marketing thinking, high-value audience planning and creative strategies to the clients’ businesses. The Regional Strategist, UM Studios, is responsible for interpreting research and data about the category, brand and audiences to generate insights, defining communications opportunities from a content and creative perspective, delivering compelling creative propositions and brand platforms, that inspire the content and creative teams to develop ideas that are not only creative and impactful but audience-centric.
**Responsibilities**:
- The Regional Strategist, UM Studios, creates the strategic recommendations and engages with regional clients on an advisory capacity. It is not the strategists’ responsibility to manage the client relationship (this is the client teams’ role).
- The Regional Strategist, UM Studios, will be working closely with our regional research and insights team (based in Manila), to ensure sound category, brand and audience understanding. They should be very comfortable with data and insights, able to use data to understand audience behaviours and advise clients on content and creative that future proof their success. They should also be passionate about building brands and willing to get under the skin of the brands and products that they work on and represent.
- Creative and analytical thinking, sound presentation skills and proactive behaviours are critical in delivering success in this role and the Regional Strategist, UM Studios should produce thinking that is held up as 'best practice' and able to inspire content and creative teams to develop 'award winning' work.
**Strategy**:
- Develop content and creative strategies that inspire creative work that delivers to the client’s desired results.
- Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the clients’ brand and business, their audiences and their behaviours as well as the changing and shifting digital landscape across APAC.
- Identify cultural trends across different APAC markets and use this to develop meaningful and relevant work for markets.
- Work closely with the content and creative teams to develop and deliver ideas and stories that our clients fall in love with.
- Ensure rigour in thinking by employing UM proprietary and industry tools/ frameworks, where relevant, in the strategic planning process e.g. high value audience planning framework.
- Clearly demonstrate how the strategy delivers on the client’s business needs and helps build brands, ensuring a focus on results.
- Develop and deliver thought leadership to clients and client teams.
- Work with client teams to recognise and develop commercial opportunities for growing UM’s service offering with clients in the delivery of the strategic response.
**Internal**:
- Ensure that there is adoption and promotion of UM’s Futureproof Planning approach.
- Deliver ‘best-in-class’ work as the standard for both internal & external documents and presentations; leveraging UM’s futureproof planning principles to frame thinking.
- Contribute to thought leadership and case studies to raise UM Studios’ profile with clients and the industry.
- Develop a strong profile across the agency through adding value to others in the core UM Studios regional team and also in the broader UM APAC regional team.
- Client:
- Create an engaging presence with clients during meetings and in pitches.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge & understanding of the client’s business, brand and products, translating that into clear creative propositions that resonate with consumers.
- Be considered an integral team member by clients - respected for the quality of work produced and for challenging opinions if necessary.
- Ensure that UM Studios ‘looks good’, supporting the client service teams by arming them with the knowledge & expertise they require to speak confidently to clients about the strategic direction.
- Knowledge & Understanding:
- Develop an excellent knowledge and understanding of the APAC consumers and market trends.
