Job Introduction
BBC StoryWorks, the BBC's global creative content division is seeking a Content Strategist to support the StoryWorks APAC in developing and delivering innovative and high-quality content solutions across existing and prospective client portfolio.
Seeking a highly creative, collaborative, and adaptable content strategist who is able to interface with sales teams, can write and develop creative strategies, and is capable of mapping out media programs across BBC channels.

BBC StoryWorks builds on the BBC’s award-winning global expertise in creating film and video, writing and digital innovation that is on the pulse of what matters, and the instinctive ability to seek out stories that capture audiences’ attention and light up the social beat.
The Content strategist role requires someone with strong experience in digital content development across multiple formats and commercial experience working directly with advertising clients on branded content.
The main daily accountabilities for this role encompass two areas, responding to briefs with creative ideas, and collaborating with a series of in house and outsourced creators to executive produce the resulting high quality digital native content across multiple formats.
The Strategist must have strong editorial experience, be abreast of trends and issues in native advertising, and have a keen understanding of the competitive landscape. They will have a keen eye for a story and many contacts across a range of formats in the creator community.
The strategist can creatively lead, delegate, motivate, and coordinate work done by others, on deadline, while liaising with internal and external stakeholders to achieve the highest quality of work to BBC standards.
The role reports to the Creative Director, BBC StoryWorks APAC, and works closely with the Managing Editors of the feature sites and their respective editors.
Main Responsibilities**Commissioning and content development**
- Responding to briefs and RFP’s with original content ideas across video, text and digital interactive content, timelines and indicative costing
- To creatively lead on won projects and source all content required both from in-house and from an external network of contributors or producers - including negotiation of fees and expenses, scope definition, and liaising with key BBC departments (legal, finance etc.)
- To work closely with editorial teams and ensure commissioned content is created to agreed schedules and budget, ensuring all material complies with BBC editorial guidelines.
- Responsible for quality control of all custom commercial content output
- Develop a broad understanding of BBC assets and channels
- Actively engage ad products, research, insights, sales teams, editorial teams, compliance officers, production houses to build strategic solutions
- Brainstorm and write creative content strategy plans
- Work closely with editorial teams to incorporate editorial partnerships into commercial strategies
**Business Development**:
- Championing category insights in the region and incentivising the team to utilize and evolve to ensure maximum response effectiveness and campaign impact
- Forge key relationships with creative teams at agencies to ensure BBC StoryWorks is front of mind for creative executions
- To create working relationships with new contributors, and build on existing ones
- Monitoring all competitive titles and international press for relevant commercial content feedback analysis
- Be aware of digital innovation trends and suggest back to the business areas of development for the BBC StoryWorks product offering
- Be aware of social media trends and work with and challenge our social media assistant to find innovative new approaches for distributing our commercial content across social platforms
- Min 5 years experience in social, content or digital strategy. Agency experience a plus.
- Strong experience in either video production, written content storytelling, or creative design, with a combination of these three skills a plus
- Experience in working with native/client-funded content/content marketing
- Excellent people, client and communication skills.
- Self-motivated, adaptable and flexible
- Ability to work with vendors and commission on vision, on budget and on deadline.
- Must be entrepreneurial, a problem-solver, detailed reader/line editor and creative thinker.
- Exemplary pitch development, strategy decks and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of how to develop an insight led strategy
