Senior Food Safety Specialist

Job Summary:

The Senior Food Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene across all business sites. This senior-level position requires a high level of expertise, leadership, and strategic thinking to drive compliance, implement policies, and promote a culture of safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance & Implementation
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including Sodexo APAC HSE standards and local laws.
    • Support the development and implementation of health, safety, and environmental improvement plans.
    • Provide technical guidance on legislation, FSMS, internal HACCP programs, and HSMS.
    • Monitor and enforce policies and procedures at all sites.
  • Site Mobilization & Pre-Opening Support
    • Support new site mobilizations with food and workplace safety compliance.
    • Conduct pre-opening inspections, food hygiene audits, and due diligence checks.
    • Recommend improvements based on inspection findings to ensure readiness.
  • Risk Management
    • Lead HACCP and risk assessment teams.
    • Prepare, verify, and implement HACCP plans and risk assessments in collaboration with operations teams.
    • Ensure availability of risk documentation at all business sites.
  • Training & Development
    • Coordinate and deliver training programs (on-the-job and classroom).
    • Conduct HSE inductions for all new staff.
    • Train department teams on food safety and occupational health.
    • Maintain training records and develop a Training Needs Analysis (TNA) and matrix.
    • Organize external certifications/trainings.
    • Conduct regular HSE awareness workshops.
  • Audits & Inspections
    • Conduct internal audits as per Sodexo FSMS, HSMS, APAC, and client-specific requirements.
    • Generate audit reports, identify gaps, and ensure action plans are implemented.
    • Perform follow-up inspections and track closure of non-conformities.
  • Incident & Accident Management
    • Ensure prompt reporting of incidents using Salus and client's reporting systems.
    • Conduct root cause analysis for all recordable incidents and lost time injuries.
    • Recommend corrective actions and monitor their implementation and effectiveness.
    • Track and report key HSE performance metrics.
  • Vendor & License Management
    • Ensure all required licenses are valid and renewed on time.
    • Coordinate with the country HSE team for license renewals.
    • Address vendor-related food safety deviations with relevant stakeholders.
    • Conduct vendor audits in coordination with the supply chain team.
    • Organize food and health safety awareness sessions for vendors.
  • Safety Culture & Behavior
    • Promote and lead a culture of safety and safe behavior among staff, contractors, and vendors.
    • Conduct regular safety walks at the site.
    • Increase HSE awareness at all levels of the organization.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Develop and implement Local Operating Procedures (LOPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Safe Systems of Work (SSOW).
    • Maintain updated safety records, training documents, manuals, and certificates.
    • Generate and analyze safety data and reports.
    • Provide accurate and timely reporting to country and regional teams.
    • Follow up on Corrective Action Requests (CARs).

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  • Proven expertise in food safety and hygiene management.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
