Job Title: Autism Communication Specialist
About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Autism Communication Specialist to join our team. As an integral member of our team, you will work with individuals on the autism spectrum to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
Your primary responsibility will be to assess and report on assessment findings in the areas of language, literacy, and communication for direct intervention planning and exam access. You will also conduct school team-based assessments for curriculum and lesson planning.
In addition to these key responsibilities, you will plan and conduct 1:1 and small group direct interventions on language, communication, and literacy goals. You will make necessary referrals to external and alternative services where required.
You will participate in collaborative consultation models with key stakeholders and contribute to programme development projects. For Senior roles, you will develop program-wide or school-wide intervention programmes on areas related to communication and language.
As a specialist in this field, you will provide training, consultation, and instruction to educators on evidence-informed approaches, tools, and strategies to support students in language (including literacy) and functional communication.
Requirements- Full registration with the Allied Health Professional Council (AHPC)
- Desire to learn about autism and passion to serve the autism community
- Flexibility and adaptability to changes and different perspectives
- Able to work independently and collaborate as a team member in a dynamic work environment
