Job Title: Sign Language Communication Specialist

A Part-time / Full-time Position with Flexibility

The role is designed for individuals passionate about working with the deaf community and promoting equal access to communication. This position offers a dynamic work environment, competitive compensation, a supportive team, and opportunities for professional growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Provide spoken English to Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and SgSL to spoken English interpretation services in various settings and locations.
  2. Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation in a professional and ethical manner.
  3. Maintain expertise in SgSL and spoken English through ongoing training and development.
  4. Support and guide Community Sign Language interpreters as needed.
  5. Develop and maintain resources such as training materials and documentation.
  6. Assist with organization events and activities.

Requirements:

  • Fluency in English and competence in Singapore Sign Language (SgSL).
  • Ability to work effectively with people of diverse ages and backgrounds.
  • A strong desire for continuous learning and professional development.
  • Comfortable working in varied settings, including classrooms, corporate meetings, broadcasts, public presentations, and online platforms.
  • Good mental and physical stamina.
  • Strong ethics and ability to navigate ambiguity.
  • Independent work style with minimal supervision and adaptability to changing work conditions.
  • Willingsness to work flexible hours, including weekends, nights, and public holidays as required.
  • Proficiency in using digital tools, particularly Google Workspace.
  • Recognized diploma or degree in any field.

Candidates with experience working or volunteering with the deaf community are preferred.
Flexibility and Work-Life Balance: A 5-day workweek on a roster system is available. The duration of this contract appointment is 2 years, with potential for renewal.
