Role Description

The role involves delivering professional sign language interpretation services in various settings and locations. This includes spoken English to Singapore Sign Language (SgSL) and SgSL to spoken English interpretation duties. The successful candidate will be required to perform these duties in a variety of contexts, including classrooms, corporate meetings, broadcasts, and online video relay services.


Responsibilities
  • Perform spoken English to SgSL and SgSL to spoken English interpretation duties in different settings.
  • Deliver high-quality sign language interpretation in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Maintain proficiency in SgSL and English languages through continuous training and development.
  • Guide Community Sign Language interpreters as needed.
  • Develop and maintain resources such as training materials.
  • Support the organisation's events and activities.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and competence in SgSL.
  • Ability to work with people of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong desire to continuously learn and develop.
  • Comfortable working in different settings and adapting to changing work conditions.
  • Good mental and physical stamina.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity while maintaining a strong sense of ethics.
  • Proficient in working with digital tools, especially Google Workspace.
  • Recognised diploma or degree in any field.
