Job Title: Chief Cost Estimator

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Cost Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and preparing all cost estimation and contract administration for construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Reviews tender documents, participates in pre-tendering activities with clients and project managers, and raises relevant pre-bid queries from the given tender document.
  2. Prepares BOQs, provides detailed and accurate quantity and component take-offs against drawings as specified in the tender document, and prepares project preliminary costs.
  3. Negotiates with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain the best prices and terms.
  4. Understands contract requirements, studies and identifies discrepancies in tender/contract documents, and raises queries for clarifications.
  5. Manages project budgets, including forecasting and monitoring costs, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  6. Checks and verifies progress of work and submission of progress claims to clients.
  7. Verifies subcontracts/vendors' progress claims against actual work and quality of work done and certifies progress claim.
  8. Works closely with the Project Team to provide cost and contractual advice, as well as determining the valuation of work done at site.
Required Skills and Qualifications

A tertiary degree in Construction Management/Quantity Surveying is required.

Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations, and standards is necessary.

Proficiency in cost estimation and cost management techniques is essential.

Familiarity with contract administration and legal aspects of construction projects is required.

Experience working with AutoCAD and validating quantities from given drawings is beneficial.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively is crucial.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with extraordinary negotiation abilities, are highly valued.

Proficiency in relevant software and tools for quantity surveying is necessary.

Strong project management skills and ability to work under pressure are essential.
