The Role: We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Manager to join our team. As a Claims Manager, you will be responsible for handling claims from notification to completion, including personal injury matters, cargo claims, property damage claims, collisions, pollution, and charterparty claims.
Key Responsibilities:
* Handling claims, verifying that the risk/claims is covered under the members entry with the club
* Settling claims at the most economic figure possible, in accordance with the rules and the member's terms of entry
* Appointing lawyers, surveyors, consultants, and receiving and evaluating critically advice received, and acting thereon
* Notifying reinsurance and making recoveries from both the pool and the excess reinsurers, or other contractual parties where appropriate
* Reporting internally
* Preparing agendas and reports
About You:
Skills/Knowledge Required:
* Degree (preferably in Law)
* Legally qualified lawyer or barrister (preferable)
* Previous shipping law experience
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with individual members
* Previous Club (P&I) experience or experience working in the maritime industry would be desirable
* Willingness to travel internationally
