Summary:
The Claims Manager
will manage the claims practice and lead a team handling facultative and treaty reinsurance claims, in accordance with the company's guidelines and principles. Key areas of focus would be to drive competency and claims expertise within the team as well as strengthening relationships with business partners through excellence.
Job Responsibilities:
Prepare and present claims-related reports to senior management and Head Office
Oversee all claim bookings handled by the team in accordance with delegated authorities
Assess and manage complex and contentious claims, making sound decisions on coverage, reserving and settlement
Understand and interpret policy wordings across various lines of businesses, including Property & Casualty, Engineering, Marine Cargo, and others
Build and mentor a high-performing claims team by guiding and enhancing their technical knowledge and competencies
Establish and maintain strong working relationships with business partners, including cedants, brokers, insurers, reinsurers, consultants, and external experts
Ensure that claims processes and practices comply with regulatory and internal requirements
Prepare claims data to facilitate both internal and external claims audits
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline
Professional certifications such as ACII, ANZIIF, CILA, or equivalent are highly preferred.
Minimum 5 years or more experience in insurance or reinsurance claims, including prior team leadership or management experience
Strong technical expertise in handling reinsurance claims
Proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven
