Key Responsibilities- Assist in the management of kitchen operations and oversee the day-to-day activities of the pastry department.
- Direct, control, and coordinate the activities of all pastry chefs and kitchen attendants to ensure an efficient, profitable, and smooth food service.
- Inspect storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers daily to prevent wastage and ensure that all food is prepared and served according to the standards set by the Executive Chef.
- Assist in the operation of the pastry department, including managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
- Monitor all kitchen operating costs and take corrective action to reduce expenses.
- Ensure that all food is prepared and served according to the standards set by the Executive Chef and that all machines, furniture, equipment, and utensils are clean and in working condition at all times.
- Participate in the Sous Chefs meeting when the Sous Chef is not on duty and ensure that all staff adheres to grooming and presentation standards.
- Report all accidents, health, and safety hazards to the Executive Chef and follow up and keep a tidy control over function and event orders.
- Be aware of duty of care and adhere to occupational, health, and safety legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Strong culinary skills and experience in a pastry kitchen.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure and maintain a calm and professional demeanor in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive and productive work environment.
