Chargeback Specialist

This is a key role in the bank's Cards Operations – Chargeback Unit, focused on processing chargebacks and ensuring each case is reviewed and handled accurately and promptly.

  • Processing of chargeback requests and reviewing customer disputes regarding credit/debit card transactions;
  • Analyzing various chargeback scenarios and evaluating evidence to decide whether the chargeback is valid;
  • Managing documentation and performing data entry tasks, contributing to accurate records and supporting team operations;
  • Compliance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) timelines for timely and accurate completion of cases;

Requirements:

  • A recognized diploma;
  • Ability to multitask and cope with change and diversity in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to think objectively and 'think outside the box' when analyzing issues;
  • Meticulous attention to detail and quality mindset;
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, driving outcomes through influence and negotiations;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word & PowerPoint;
  • Team player, self-motivated, and resourceful.

Key Responsibilities:

Chargeback Case Analysis:
  • Reviewing chargeback cases, assessing evidence, and making decisions on validity;
  • Applying banking rules to evaluate each situation fairly;
  • Collaborating with teams to ensure accurate and prompt handling of chargebacks;
Administrative Tasks:
  • Performing data entry, managing documentation, and supporting project-related tasks;
  • Contributing to maintaining accurate records and supporting team operations;
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies;
Service Level Compliance:
  • Meeting strict timelines for timely and accurate completion of cases;
  • Ensuring that every chargeback is handled within agreed SLA;
  • Monitoring and improving operational efficiency and reducing risk;
Customer & Internal Queries:
  • Resolving feedback or questions from internal departments related to chargeback cases;
  • Providing excellent customer service and support to stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with teams to resolve queries and improve customer satisfaction.
