PRIMARY FUNCTION

  • Drive the deployment of Business Process Improvement Systems, related tools, and thought processes to facilitate and coach the Business Process Improvement approach within Abbott's region(s), business unit(s), and/or functional area(s).
  • Act as the key subject matter expert regarding process improvement initiatives and present recommendations and progress reports to senior and executive leadership.
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and project management leadership to team members within a global structure, business unit, or functional level.
  • Responsible for creating an environment and assisting leadership and customers in the timely and successful completion of cost-effective, strategic project and business improvement opportunities.
  • Serve as project consultants, guides, or leaders while implementing and accelerating constructive long-term change.
  • Drive organization(s) to meet their strategic objectives.
  • Assume a leadership role as the key continuous improvement consultant in a learn and do approach.
  • Directly interface with key leadership and functional experts providing insight and advice on Business Process Improvement approaches to strategic business challenges.
  • Incorporate the use of Business Process Improvement Methodology and Tools into current business management processes.
  • Stay current in the field through continuous learning, and internal and external benchmarking activities.
  • Influence projects and business improvement initiatives to directly contribute to stated strategic objectives.
  • Critically review and coach others on effective use of Business Process Improvement Methodology and Tools.
  • Manage the Business Process Improvement Certification process for continued learning and organizational capability development.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Head of Operations Excellence to define Operational Excellence strategies and goals, deploy plans, and ensure deployment is aligned with the business strategy.
  • Articulate and communicate the Operations Excellence strategy to the site/Function and serve as a role model for Business Excellence behaviors and values.
  • Drive Operations Excellence workstreams' Implementations in Abbott's region(s).
  • Promote Class A behavior and sustainability.
  • Coordinate Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
  • Lead Lean Six Sigma projects to improve quality, reduce cycle times, and reduce cost and achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Lead Green Belt program, advocate training, and Kaizen on site.
  • Teach, influence, and motivate staff to apply Lean Six Sigma tools for problem-solving.
  • Create an open environment for learning and facilitate Operations Excellence/Class A/BCP training.
  • Mentor Black Belts, Green Belts, and Advocates for Lean Sigma projects.
  • Track and report project benefits.
  • Network with other Sites/Functions to exchange knowledge and good practice both internally and externally.
  • Cultivate the continuous improvement culture in Abbott's region(s).
  • Lead and support Divisional Business Excellence projects.
  • Drive activities to maintain Class A standards.
  • Report balance scorecard results monthly to the site and provide metric results to Division.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Science, Industrial Engineering is highly advantageous.
  • 5 to 8 years of related experience and minimally 3 years in management situation.
  • Good People and communication skills.
  • Good Change Management & Facilitation skills.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Black Belt Certification will be highly advantageous.
  • Strong trainer capability.
  • Proven influencing and negotiating ability.
  • Coaching and mentoring ability.
  • Positive Can-Do attitude.
