HVAC Engineer Job Description

As a skilled HVAC engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting complex commercial HVAC systems by conducting proactive performance testing and ongoing scheduled maintenance.

This role involves installing, repairing, adjusting, servicing and maintaining electric or pneumatic control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and control components.

You will also inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.

Troubleshooting equipment failures and identifying the best course of action for equipment modifications is another key responsibility in this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain and troubleshoot complex HVAC systems ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards
  2. Install, repair, adjust, service and maintain electric or pneumatic control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment
  3. Inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation of equipment and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety
  4. Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications
Requirements:

A high school diploma or equivalent, along with 4-5 years of job-related experience is required for this role. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

Prior shift manager or supervisory experience is preferred. Meet the physical requirements of this role, which include stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs or more.

The ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information, willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions, and in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products are also essential skills for this role.

Sophisticated math skills, including calculating mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations are also required.
