Job Title: Pastry Junior Sous Chef

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pastry Junior Sous Chef to join our culinary team at THE CAPITOL KEMPINSKI HOTEL SINGAPORE. As a Pastry Junior Sous Chef, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of kitchen operations and overseeing the day-to-day activities of the pastry department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the management of kitchen operations and oversee the day-to-day activities of the pastry department.
  • Direct, control, and coordinate the activities of all pastry chefs and kitchen attendants to ensure an efficient, profitable, and smooth food service.
  • Inspect storerooms, refrigerators, and freezers daily to prevent wastage and ensure that all food is prepared and served according to the standards set by the Executive Chef.
  • Assist in the operation of the pastry department, including managing inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Monitor all kitchen operating costs and take corrective action to reduce expenses.
  • Ensure that all staff adheres to grooming and presentation standards and maintain interdepartmental communication to avoid frictions of any kind.
  • Represent the culinary team in an absolute correct manner when in public areas and participate in staff training in conjunction with the Training Department and Departmental Trainers.
  • Maximize employee productivity and morale, and consistently maintain discipline, following hotel guidelines and local legislation.
Requirements:
  • Strong culinary skills and knowledge of pastry preparation and presentation.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of productivity.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain good working relationships with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
