Software Engineer Job Description

CSIT is developing software products to advance Singapore's national security interests. We use our products in various applications, including counter-terrorism and computer network defence.

Software product development is a complex process. Our product teams need an integrated platform and infrastructure to deliver software quickly and efficiently. We are looking for talented platform engineers who are passionate about developer experience to join us in building and expanding this foundational platform that accelerates our developers' productivity.

As a software engineer on our dynamic developer platform team, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of software toolchains, services, and automation on our cloud infrastructure to aid our engineers in software development. You will be an engineer who collaborates closely with product teams to ensure an excellent software development experience.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain features and automation for our developer platform, which includes a range of cloud services and APIs used by our developers to build and deploy exciting applications
  • Work with engineers across our entire software development stack to improve software delivery performance
  • Collaborate with other platform and infra teams to ensure seamless integration between our developer platform and other services in our private cloud
  • Write clean code, participate in code reviews, and provide feedback to other engineers
  • Proactively improve availability, performance, efficiency, monitoring, and emergency response for our platform and infrastructure
Requirements

We are looking for individuals who possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
  • At least 2 years of experience in software development using one or more general-purpose programming languages (e.g., Python, Java)

We also welcome applicants with the following skills:

  • Experience working with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with API design principles and experience building and maintaining APIs
  • Experience working on developer-facing systems, cloud services, infrastructure automation, or in a DevOps or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) role
  • Experience in designing and operating large-scale distributed systems
