Job Title: Senior Legal Counsel

At Singtel, we are committed to fostering a work environment that promotes equity, inclusivity, and forward-thinking. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal support to our business units across the Asia Pacific region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Assistant General Counsel (Shared Services) in overseeing the Shared Services Legal Team.
  • Provide on-the-ground oversight of the Shared Services Legal team to ensure effective management of the team.
  • Monitor and review matter trackers maintained by team members, in collaboration with Assistant General Counsels based in Singapore.
  • Provide feedback on team performance to Assistant General Counsels and assist with career development and continuous improvement.
  • Organize and provide relevant legal training to the Shared Services Legal team through in-house or external training.
  • Support allocated business units with timely and quality legal work in a fast-paced environment, including contract review, drafting, and governance compliance.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate various contracts, including sales, procurement, and IT contracts.
  • Provide accurate and prompt legal advice to business units, acting in a proactive, commercial, and pragmatic manner.
  • Manage time effectively to cope with competing deadlines from different stakeholders.
  • Delegate day-to-day work to team members and oversee their tasks, providing legal guidance as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a reputable university in Singapore, UK, or Australia.
  • Called to the bar in Singapore, Malaysia, UK, or Australia.
  • Minimum 10 years of post-graduate qualifying experience, with 3-5 years of experience in a good law firm and general commercial corporate experience.
  • Strong commercial and corporate experience.
  • Excellent technical skills in drafting and vetting legal contracts.
  • Reasonable knowledge of IT laws, privacy, competition law, intellectual property, and litigation matters.
  • A track record of steady career progression and demonstrating leadership qualities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact and work across functions and levels.
  • Excellent communication, writing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • A team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Able to work independently and effectively under pressure.
  • Meticulous, quick to learn, and able to work with many parties in the Singtel Group.
  • Curious and willing to work and learn about our business.
  • Will to travel occasionally to Singapore for work.
