Key Responsibilities
  • Provide legal counsel to the business, participating in strategic initiatives and providing subject matter expertise on relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Partner with legal peers to evaluate business proposals, applying institutional knowledge and risk appetite.
  • Collaborate across internal lines of business, control/support functions, and external counsel to ensure effective legal support and guidance.
  • Contribute to business objectives by providing thought leadership and participating in business planning and development initiatives.
  • Proactively identify, evaluate, and contribute to the management of legal, regulatory, and reputational risk.
  • Manage day-to-day legal activities as a subject matter expert in area of responsibility.
  • Monitor the management of complex legal issues and transactions.
  • Assess risk when business decisions are made.
Requirements
  • 6-10 years of relevant industry experience, preferably in Banking or financial services or a law firm.
  • Regional experience in Emerging Markets.
  • Fluency in Microsoft Word.
  • Knowledge of international laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Experience with complex deals and ability to analyze issues.
  • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and relationship management skills.
  • Proven ability to apply sound judgment while managing assignments.
  • Bar license in good standing to practice law.
  • Education: Juris Doctorate or equivalent law degree.
