Marine Superintendent Job Description

The role of Marine Superintendent is a crucial one, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels. The Marine Superintendent will oversee day-to-day marine operations to ensure adherence to statutory regulations, industry standards, and company policies.

  • Key responsibilities include monitoring vessel performance, conducting ship visits and inspections, and providing guidance and support to shipboard management on navigational, safety, and operational matters.
  • Additionally, the Marine Superintendent will investigate incidents and near-misses, ensuring corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively.
  • Liaising with flag states, class societies, port state control, and other regulatory authorities is also an essential aspect of this role.
Requirements:
  • A Master Mariner with sea-going experience as Master, preferably on PCTC, Ro-Ro, or similar vessel types.
  • Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a shore-based marine superintendent or operational role (PCTC experience highly desirable).
  • In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and safety management systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel for vessel visits, inspections, and audits.
  • English and Mandarin mandatory to manage international stakeholders.
