Investment Director Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Investment Director to lead our data center investment strategy. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and executing investment strategies in the data center sector, including identifying potential opportunities, conducting due diligence, and making informed investment decisions.


Responsibilities
  • Investment Strategy Development: Develop and execute comprehensive investment strategies in the data center sector, leveraging industry expertise and market knowledge to drive growth and returns.
  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the end-to-end investment process of data center projects, from site selection and acquisition to design and construction. Lead the deal team to structure and negotiate the closure of multiple acquisitions/divestitures of data center assets or DC operating companies, including origination, analysis, underwriting, due diligence, research, technical design and solutions, tax structuring, deal evaluation and deal execution.
  • Financial Analysis: Conduct thorough financial analysis, including investment valuation, feasibility studies, and risk assessments. Independently generate financial models of varying complexities to support investment thesis.
  • Stakeholder Management: Foster strong relationships with investors, partners, vendors, brokers and regulatory authorities. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to drive projects forward and ensure successful outcomes.
  • Negotiation: Work with in-house counsel to manage external legal advisers, review and lead negotiation of key legal terms within the legal documentation related to acquisitions with external partners in various jurisdictions.
  • Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging technologies in the data center space. Conduct market research and analysis to identify new investment opportunities and potential areas for expansion.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, business administration, engineering, IT, computing science or a related field.
  • Experience: Proven experience in investment management within the data center, real estate, private equity, infrastructure, IT or technology industry, with a strong track record of successful investment deals.
  • Technical Skills: Solid understanding of data center operations, infrastructure, and technical requirements. Strong grasp of mechanical and electrical systems or IT architecture would be helpful, but not necessary.
  • Business Acumen: Strong financial acumen, with the ability to conduct thorough financial analysis and develop investment strategies.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, with the ability to effectively manage teams and drive projects towards successful completion. Project management experience is advantageous.
