Roles & Responsibilities

Application Design Engineer is responsible for day-to-day designing and engineering activities.

He is involved in the development and creation of mechanical parts, machine tools, and equipment or components and may also work on existing equipment and mechanical processes, usually to improve existing designs or correct recurring faults.

The design process that an Application Design Engineer works through typically involves analyzing a problem to solve via development and then brainstorming various design ideas. The best and most workable of these ideas then become design schematics and are developed into prototypes to be used for testing and further iteration and development until a completed and working design is set. The design engineer then typically works with manufacturing and quality control teams to help ensure that finished products meet the original design specifications.

~ Conduct research for product innovations.

~ Conduct tests on numerical models against fundamental design failures of prototypes.

~ Coordinate mechanical and electrical tests on prototype components.

~ Define categories for organisation's existing intellectual property (IP) to allow ease of access to necessary information.

~ Determine possible business applications of IP to support organisation's strategies and objectives.

~ Develop IP management processes for designs.

~ Develop resource planning strategy.

~ Establish design-related hypotheses for testing through data analytics.

~ Evaluate analysis findings for technical and business reports.

~ Evaluate IP infringements in accordance with organisational procedures.

~ Implement approved green initiatives in design processes.

~ Incorporate equipment, system, and conversion components and safety features in design plans.

~ Perform feasibility analysis on design plans.

~ Record implementation progress of innovation initiatives.

~ Review design drawings base for practicability, completion timeframe, and research capabilities.

~ Specify appropriate advanced analytical techniques to create information which supports decision-making.
