Roles & Responsibilities

Accountant Job Scope – Franchise Furniture Business (Singapore)

Employing a Accountant in a franchise furniture business plays a crucial role in managing financial records, ensuring compliance with Singapore's financial regulations, and supporting franchise operations with accurate financial insights.

1. Financial Reporting & Accounting
  • Maintain and update full sets of accounts (AP, AR, GL) for the franchise business.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (P&L, balance sheets, cash flow statements).
  • Ensure accurate bookkeeping and reconciliation of accounts.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports for franchisees and management.
2. Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Assist in developing annual budgets and financial projections for the company and franchisees.
  • Monitor budget variances and recommend cost-saving strategies.
  • Support management in financial planning and growth strategies.
3. Franchisee Financial Management
  • Oversee royalty fees, franchise fees, and financial transactions between the franchisor and franchisees.
  • Ensure franchisees follow pricing policies, accounting standards, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Assist franchisees with cash flow management, taxation, and financial compliance.
4. Taxation & Compliance
  • Prepare and file GST returns, corporate tax, and other statutory filings in compliance with IRAS regulations.
  • Ensure adherence to Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and other local regulations.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and government agencies for financial matters.
5. Payroll & Expense Management
  • Handle payroll processing, CPF contributions, and employee claims.
  • Ensure proper documentation and tracking of business expenses, reimbursements, and vendor payments.
6. Financial Analysis & Cost Control
  • Conduct profitability analysis for franchise stores, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Monitor costs, overheads, and pricing structures to ensure financial sustainability.
  • Work with operations and procurement teams to optimize costs and improve efficiency.
7. Audit & Risk Management
  • Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring financial records are accurate and compliant.
  • Identify potential financial risks and suggest preventive measures.
8. Software & System Management
  • Use accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB) to maintain financial records.
  • Ensure data security and accuracy in financial systems.
Key Skills Required:

Strong knowledge of Singapore's accounting & tax regulations
Experience in franchise business accounting preferred
Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, MYOB, or similar)
Strong analytical skills & attention to detail
Ability to handle multiple franchise accounts efficiently
