Key Responsibilities:


  • Meticulously analyze sales data, customer preferences, and industry trends to forecast demand and guide strategic buying decisions

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including marketing, operations, and quality control, to ensure seamless product selection, timely delivery, and adherence to the highest standards
  • Negotiate favorable terms with suppliers, leveraging your exceptional communication and bargaining skills to secure the best possible deals
  • Maintain a keen awareness of the competitive landscape, monitoring rivals' fresh product offerings and pricing strategies
  • Develop comprehensive category plans and assortment strategies that optimize inventory, profitability, and customer satisfaction
  • Skillfully manage the end-to-end buying process for fresh products, from sourcing and sampling to purchase order placement and delivery
  • Monitor inventory levels, identify risk, and implement effective markdown and replenishment strategies to minimize waste and maximize freshness
  • Provide insightful sales and performance reports, empowering the leadership team to make informed decisions
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, always seeking innovative ways to enhance the fresh product buying and merchandising process

Qualifications and Requirements:


  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a fresh food buyer or merchandiser role within the retail industry
  • Proven track record of successfully forecasting trends, curating fresh product assortments, and driving sales
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and identify opportunities
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation prowess, with the ability to secure favorable supplier terms
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in using retail planning and inventory management software
  • Keen eye for quality, freshness, and presentation, with a deep understanding of food science and nutrition
  • Adaptable and agile, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing retail environment
