Roles & Responsibilities

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

The Job holder will actively contribute to the implementation of the Group's ethics & compliance standards in the Regions as such but not limited to the following:

  • Be responsible for securing the legal aspects of commercial engineering services implemented for supporting export and domestic initiatives undertaken by the countries in the region
  • Participate in the identification and selection of Business Advisers and qualification of the Key Industrial Partners and be responsible for analyzing, implementing and updating "due diligence" files
  • Be responsible for drafting, negotiating, preparing and managing the contracts to be executed. The Job Holder will be as close as possible to operational functions and help in elaborating relevant contractual solutions and identifying legal stakes so that all risks are detected, measured and mitigated
  • Interface with external counsels for analysis and management of specific legal issues in the framework of complex contractual and/or legal arrangements or litigation procedures in the Regions In compliance with Group policy
  • Ensure and supervise the compliance of Thales activities in the Regions with all applicable regulations and Group policies on Integrity and Compliance
  • Ensure the deployment and implementation of the Group's ethics, anti-corruption compliance standards, and as such participate to the deployment throughout the Regions of an ethics & compliance communication and training plan (i.e. gifts and hospitality instruction, community investment, sponsorship, corporate membership instruction, compliance tools and platforms deployment, etc.)
  • Report of non-compliance which would require the definition of a corrective action plan and/or a reporting to the Group General Counsel and, when appropriate, to the Ethic, Integrity and Corporate Responsibility Director, or to the Compliance expert as the case may be
  • Assist and address the internal control requirements, the audit preparation and reviews (internal and external), the corporate law, governance and compliance aspects
  • With the support of the Chief Compliance Officer and the Compliance experts and of their dedicated compliance network, ensure the deployment and implementation of the other Group compliance programs (Trade Compliance, Anti-trust and Competition laws, Personal Data Protection) for the entities and activities in the Regions

The Job holder will report directly to the Chief Compliance Officer and VP Legal & Contracts of Thales Asia, China / Hong Kong

BACKGROUND & SKILLS

  • At least a Master's degree in Law
  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience as in-house lawyer providing support to business with a significant management and leadership experience in an international commercial and operational environment
  • Significant expertise in compliance matters (prevention of corruption, anti-trust, Personal Data protection and Trade Compliance)
  • Perfect command of English language, verbal and written
  • Strong organizational and management skills, including ability to motivate the team and develop the expertise of each member of the team
  • Good negotiator and strong interpersonal skills (able to deal with conflicts and resistance)
  • Ability to position Legal & Contracts as a business partner by reflecting the impact of the commercial and operational context of the business
  • High level of commitment to service delivery and ability to work under pressure
  • Operational and proactive with good management of priorities and workload
  • Strong team player and willing to share knowledge
  • Strategic mindset and solutions oriented
  • Good and effective communication skills as well as good inter-personal and inter-cultural awareness and interest to work in diverse teams.
