PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Over the last 5 years, Sembcorp Solar Singapore Pte Ltd has rapidly grown to be the largest solar developer in Singapore, now operating multiple types of solar systems at more than 1500 locations. The Head of Business Excellence role is to drive business excellence and grow organizational capability to enable us to deliver our strategic goals as we transition from a phase of fast asset acquisition into a phase of continued asset acquisition and operational excellence.


KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as a strategic partner to the GM of Singapore Solar business and other members of the executive team, providing data-driven insights and recommendations to inform decision making.
  • Develop, coordinate and support operational and organizational capability development plans that align with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Facilitate cross-functional teams in the analysis of processes, identification of inefficiencies, and the development of solutions to streamline operations.
  • Oversee the deployment of Lean, and other operational excellence methodologies to drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with senior management to integrate operational excellence principles into the company’s strategic planning and execution.
  • Design and implement metrics, dashboards, and systems for tracking and reporting on operational performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Manage new change initiatives within a governance framework in terms of structure, reporting, communication, budget tracking, resource management.
  • Ensure employees are trained and coached on new systems, processes and procedures
  • Identify and support digitalization opportunities to improve safety, quality, profit and productivity
  • Manage business excellence budget.
  • Manage external training and innovation program to establish ecosystem leadership in the Solar industry in Singapore.
  • Support the expansion of renewables business into new markets by helping transfer improved people, systems and capabilities.

MAJOR CHALLENGES

The organization has achieved much success with a relatively young team comprising of many new and young staff, managing fast growth and increased operation of multiple asset types at multiple location. In order for the business to scale greater heights, the candidate needs to help the organisation to continue to drive business excellence and grow capability in a relatively new business and industry. This requires deep end-to-end analysis, continuous improvement culture, process rethink, effective digitalisation, building strategic capabilities and change management. The candidate also needs to be able to harness the knowledge and skills of group wide resources and stakeholders to support our drive for excellence.


KEY DECISIONS & DIMENSIONS

The role is accountable for business improvement analysis, development and implementation plan across all functions with deliverables on key safety, quality, profit and productivity metrics.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree in Engineering/Applied Science with more than 8 years of experience with at least 3 years in a senior position
  • An appreciation and a good understanding of macroeconomics and external factors affecting the business strategies adopted.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate data for acceptability and correctness.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, highly analytical, entrepreneurial environment
  • Ability to work well independently as well as with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including sound presentational skills
  • Flexibility in resolving issues and addressing changing priorities.
  • Ability to link business with risk management and business continuity plans
