About the Role


You will be responsible for supporting Swiss Re's business in the Asia-Pacific region through optimising the deployment of capital and funding.


Your main tasks and activities will include:

  • Propose, and lead the implementation of, actions (including loans, guarantees, IGRs, and collateral structures) aimed at improving the capital and liquidity position, and carrier structure, of the Asia-Pacific region
  • Coordinate the APAC capital planning process, ensuring that the region's carriers are capitalised, and dividends repatriated, in accordance with Group policies
  • Ensure appropriate management information is provided on the capital, liquidity, foreign exchange, and assetliability position of the relevant carriers
  • Use your treasury knowhow to support business strategies and client relationships
  • Support the structuring of transactions and work with collateral management to implement efficient collateral structures as required
  • Support the review of large transactions
  • Represent Group Treasury in the Asia-Pacific region, supporting cash management and funding activities
  • Engage with Asset Management to establish the capacity for investment risk within the relevant subsidiaries, review investment restrictions and benchmarks, and work with the Asset-Liability Management team to propose changes to the investment mix where appropriate
  • Stay ahead of and address relevant regulatory, tax, and other relevant developments impacting the Asia-Pacific region.
  • You will provide the Group Treasurer, Head Global Carrier Management, and Head of Capital Management with advice on relevant matters. You will work in close collaboration with the local finance, legal, regulatory, asset management and transaction teams as well as the broader Treasury team; and will have four persons reporting to you.

About the Team
Capital Management is one of six teams within Group Treasury.

We are responsible for capital and liquidity management, as well as asset-liability management and the Finance transaction review process across the Swiss Re Group.

We are organized into three regional capital and liquidity management teams based in Zurich for EMEA, Armonk for the Americas, and Singapore for APAC, as well as a central team based in Zurich mainly responsible for asset-liability management.

However, we are flexible in structuring our tasks and frequently work together on initiatives across teams.

We constantly strive to improve our understanding of value creation in the context of Swiss Re and to use this knowledge to increase our effectiveness.


About You

  • Substantial experience in financial services
  • Deep understanding of the structure, value drivers, and risks inherent in: reinsurance products, debt instruments, and capital market structures, as well as a financial institution's corporate structure and balance sheet
  • Proven ability to analyse and structure solutions to complex problems framing them as opportunities to control risk or improve profitability
  • Proven ability to deliver on initiatives, from policy development through to implementation
  • Naturally brings individuals together as needed, across countries and functions
  • Creative, openmined, reliable, and resilient
  • Adept at communicating multifaceted issues to management in a clear and concise fashion
  • University degree or professional qualification, demonstrating solid analytical ability
