Role Introduction

The role holder will be the subject matter expert for all rewards activities in the region and is accountable for designing, implementing, and managing rewards & benefits programmes and processes across multiple locations to ensure appropriate rewards frameworks that effectively incentivise and recognise high performance, supporting the region in achieving business objectives.

Responsible for analyzing employee data to identify trends, improve retention, and enhance organizational performance. The role involves translating complex data into actionable insights to support decision-making aligned with business goals and regional people strategies.

Key Responsibilities

High Performance Culture & Performance and Rewards

  • Own performance management pay cycle and ensure its effectiveness.
  • Support business units through alignment and consistency of pay philosophy, including collaboration with the Regional Talent Manager to manage the annual calibration process ensuring a clear link to pay at year-end.
  • Collaborate with Regional Head of People, SEA&O, Area/Country People teams, and Head Office to review employees’ compensation details for market alignment.
  • Provide attrition and pay compensation analysis to understand internal versus external market conditions.
  • Translate complex frameworks and concepts for stakeholders and teams to ensure understanding and drive a pay-for-performance culture.

Rewards Programmes Design and Management

  • Contribute to designing and delivering competitive rewards programmes aligned across all markets and compliant with local legal requirements.
  • Propose and manage regional employee incentive programmes to meet internal stakeholder needs.
  • Ensure alignment with global rewards frameworks, including eligibility, review, and coordination across internal groups globally.
  • Manage regional salary structure development, benchmarking, market analyses, and cost modeling.
  • Collaborate with global total rewards team on rewards review, cross-border packages, localisation, taxation, and allowances.
  • Support the region with ad-hoc analysis, modelling, and review of reward change submissions.

Regional Advisory and Management

  • Partner with regional and area people teams to provide rewards advice supporting talent acquisition, motivation, and retention.
  • Support labour and industrial relations benchmarking exercises.
  • Ensure alignment with global job evaluation and salary benchmarking for new and existing roles.
  • Support rewards-related initiatives and projects regionally and globally.

Management of Annual Compensation Cycle
  • Collaborate with global rewards team on salary structure and market range reviews.
  • Facilitate salary reviews, bonuses, and profit-sharing schemes, ensuring compliance with global frameworks.
  • Guide regional teams and managers on performance management and calibration processes linked to pay.
  • Manage the annual compensation cycle, including systems and payroll collaboration.
Data Insights
  • Work with business units to identify automation opportunities and improve processes using digital tools.
  • Provide key data insights to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Support projects related to people data insights.
People Development and Performance Management
  • Lead and encourage team collaboration, embodying Cathay’s core values.
  • Develop high-potential employees and identify learning opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing dialogue on employee goals and performance.
  • Engage actively with employees to enhance communication and understanding of team goals.
E&A

• Emergency, Accident, and Crisis Response responsibilities as required.

Academic Qualifications

• A tertiary degree in Human Resources or related field is advantageous.

Knowledge, Skills, Training, and Experience
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in rewards and benefits in a cross-country environment.
  • Strong knowledge of local legal frameworks in SEA&O.
  • Experience in the airline industry is a plus.
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Good judgment and impartiality.
  • Deep understanding of compensation and benefits frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills.
  • High technological proficiency.
