KEY ACCOUNTABILITES

  • Provide broad legal support for various key business areas across the asset management business, including portfolio management, trading, investment operations, HR, and fund distribution.
  • Responsible for negotiating, reviewing and drafting all manner of fund documents, registrations, distribution arrangements, and investment management agreements with key clients, including Prudential Life companies.
  • Ability to draft and review other key general corporate documentation, such as vendor agreements, NDAs, IT arrangements, and RFPs.
  • Build strong partnerships with key stakeholders across the Eastspring organisation, including Compliance, Risk, Operations, HR and the client business teams.
  • To function as an effective conduit with Prudential Group Legal and the Eastspring network of companies, and to ensure that relevant Group policies are implemented across the Eastspring organisation.
  • Over time, assist the Head of Legal in providing some supervision of the Singapore Legal team, provide mentorship and train junior members.
  • Open to taking on stretch responsibilities and tasks beyond the day to day, including representing the Legal function on key transformational projects and initiatives across the Eastspring organisation and other critical matters that require senior Legal support.

THE CANDIDATE
  • Qualified lawyer in Singapore.
  • Relevant experience inhouse with an asset management or financial services firm is preferred, with existing knowledge of the asset management business. General corporate work experience (including M&A and corporate secretarial) will be a huge bonus. Ability to handle litigation related matters a plus.
  • Strong communication skills are needed across different seniorities and stakeholders, and confidence to represent the Legal function as a senior member of the team and to influence positive outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently but also as a team, and possess the bandwidth to take on multiple tasks and priorities, be open to taking on new stretch responsibilities and prioritise deadlines. Need to possess a strong mindset to deal with ambiguity, a changing and dynamic environment, yet be resilient and be a problem solver.
  • Technically strong, be able to understand business needs and growth priorities and providing quality legal advice and partnership.
  • Highly essential to be a culture carrier, possess a positive, confident and can-do mindset, and play a significant role in building a collegiate and closely-knit team environment.
